Myanmar Hoteliers hope to inspire the travel industry and colleagues
Myanmar’s mover and shakers of the travel industry have launched the “Yay Chan Sin Movement”, a campaign to encourage using refill water bottle and beat the plastic pollution. The kick-off event was held at The Rose Garden Hotel Yangon on 17th January.

“Yay Chan Sin” is a offering of water to travelers and strangers, accustomed to Myanmar for generations. By offering water you make merit.
The initiative will place “yay-chan-sin” or cool water stands around the city as many as possible to encourage people to refill their water bottles instead of buying plastic water bottles whenever they are thirsty. In this way, using plastic bottle will be reduced and it helps to solve the problem of single-use plastic piling up in Myanmar’s rivers and landfill.
Rose Garden Hotel Yangon’s General Manager Alexander Scheible and Tim Reus from the Savoy Hotel were co-speaker presenting why they implemented their green initiatives and the challenges they faced along the way.

Rose Garden Hotel Yangon has taken a pledge to reduce plastic since its opening 4 years ago, eliminating plastic water bottles. They encourage guests to refill water bottles at our complimentary refillable water stations and only offer straws for beverages upon request. Yogurt is served in reusable glass jars only, they banned foam take-away boxes and their rooms have soap dispensers instead of non-reusable plastic bottles. Their ecologically sustainable Themed Meetings provide delegates with recycled stationary and napkins and our lighting and heating systems are eco-friendly.

“Yay Chan Sin Movement” is supported by: Adventure Myanmar Tours & Incentives, Asiantrails, Easia Travel Myanmar, EXO Travel Agency – Myanmar, Travel Easy for you, Khiri Travel, Mira Travels, Orchestra Travel, Sampan Travel, Silk Road To Asia Travel Services Co., Ltd., 7star Tour & Travels, Sunbird Tours, Tour Mandalay, Savoy Hotel Yangon, Diethelm Travel Group, Rose Garden Hotel Yangon.
